For Volkswagen we went on a road trip with the first Stop on Malta.
Malta is one of the Spots in Europe you could even shot a commercial in the wintertime with a lot of sun and comfortable temperatures.
With different cars in different countries all over Europe we have to create severals high-resolution pictures and short clips which can be used for social media advertisement. The goal of the clips is to be just in one camera move from pretty low heights to pretty high heights or opposite direction. For that special requirements you need a well trained team and a drone system that it was well adjusted.
Especially in conditions on a coastline with higher wind speeds and several obstructed flight paths, the pilot and the drone-systems have to be top notch and very responsive.
With our special CDS VR/360°- Drone Systems we had been responsible for the new VR/360° Flight over Malta commercial for GiG (Gaming Innovation Group). Due to our reliable Systems, the precise flight plannings and the accurate risk management planning, we had even been able to fly in sensitive areas with permission by the Maltese aerial authorities.
We had been able to cover the Maltese harbour, as well as Valetta City with it`s fortifications, Manoel Island and St. Julians bay area alongside with the inner countryside in the beautiful city of Msida.
Even in the high wind speed situations on the coastline with wind gusts over 60km/h we had been able to deliver rocksolid footage and fulfill the requirements of our client.
Due to the long range, latency free video transmission we had been able to perform long range flights on the coastline whilst having a full overview about the covered scenarios.
The newest Sky Commercial for the upcoming soccer season features one of the famous football stadiums in Berlin. We had been responsible to deliver high-end 8K content to Sky for the opening sequence of their newest TVC. Besides that we delivered some key shots with our handheld system. Due to the quick release system we use, we had been able to avoid long setup changes and just grab the setup we used in the drone to use it handheld immidiatly. Time was very important in this case due to the fact that all pictures should have been shot while the match was going on in the magic hour of the late afternoon.
Due to the planned digital add ons in the post production it was very important that the content was very smooth and stable. We had been able to match these requirements with our precisely balanced and finetuned stabilizing system.
For this special Siemens 360° corporate-commercial, produced by Embassy of Dreams, we had again been able to proof the efficiency of our high performance drones with the fully stabilized 360°-System attached. With the CDS Drones 360°-Drone-System we are able to create a fully 360° field of view which offers the ability to the post production to get rid of the drone in the video content and to create a whole new immersive viewing experience to the viewer. With the newest Claas-Tractor on the market, equipped with high end Siemens-technology plowing a field super precisely we had the chance to collect some stunning 360° content whilst orbiting and chasing the tractor in action.

For this very special Production with Parasol Island and Jung von Matt for Edeka, CDS Drones had to start and land on a small fisher boat in very windy conditions besides changing wave heights.
The production shot on Arri Mini and the RED Weapon W 8K Helium, for the drone, requires very precise flight maneuvers for moving pictures of the moving boat and the fisherman working on it whilst having flybys with keeping the fisherman in the focus.
With every flight the boat was moving forward besides moving in the waves and wind and we had to appraise the movements, wind, waves and the crossings of the moving boat and the flying drone to get the pictures needed and beyond.
Starting and landing was like having a ball dancing on hose water.
Very challenging and fun too with a satisfied client and a great team experience.
One of the most famous rallys of the World – Rally Dakar – is especially famous for its hard terrain, speed, weather and the huge distances, which proofs man and machine at its fullest.
In preparation of this endurance race we had been able to show how we would manage such competition. We had at least four weeks to set up a drone system, which is capable to fly over 100kph at a height of 5m with a total weight of 12kg and is capable of carrying different, heavy 360°-camera rigs.
This special production with the MINI John Cooper Works X-Raid – Rally Team was also about setting a new reference in VR/360° production which worked out great!
Besides having the estimated content and beyond we set a record with our drones – 110kph at a height of 2m over ground less than 2m parallel to the MINI rally car which we had to chase for some sequences of this commercial.
In this shots we had been able to hold this pace over several kilometers whilst offering different camera angles to the director.
For some shots we had to switch to a different 360° camera rig which was able to capture up to 120fps but with a rolling shutter only – even this content was completely steady and didn’t need any rolling shutter fixing or post stabilization even at the speed of 110kph.
The whole commercial was produced on our CDS – drone systems and outreached every expectation of our customer and director Sandro Cannova which commented our performance with – “The real Top Gun! – with a free floating camera system that can do stationary shots as well as moving shots to up to 110kph! What else could you ask for?”
Studio Babelsberg choose Camera Drones Services to produce aerials and slow walkthroughs, with a drone in different heights, of their new Outdoor Location – The Metropolitan Backlot – Neue Berliner Straße in 5K RAW shot on RED.
The 16 Million Euro location has 54 house facades, 4 streets a inner courtyard and a height up to 15m.
It was pretty special to cover everything in long takes and create fly throughs that allows the viewer to get a good impression of whats possible and how is everything connected to each other in that great location.
For that we had to fly very slow whilst keeping the system on position without any GPS or other positioning tools in pretty windy conditions besides walking the drone through the whole location, with its gangways and tunnels to and through the courtyard.
Thanks to our reliable systems and our experience Studio Babelsberg got some great footage which is used in their international promotion trailer/showreel.
The Berlin based Production Company It´s us Media used our drone competences for their commercial production for BMWI (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie).
For this production our drone systems had been used for the drone establishing shots as well as a replacement for a crane. With this the production was able to save money besides having the flexibility of shooting different angles from very close positions to very far establishing shots within one shot.
Another special with this production was, that we had been able to fly in a night setup with light rain which worked perfect with our reliable systems and offers the production great shots with watered streets and roofs they usually would have needed an artificial wet-down for.
Camera Drone Services had been responsible for the motion pictures in the latest Jeep commercial produced by Parasol Island with Elias M´Barek. For the high speed driving shots on the streets and through the forests we used one of our special remote rigs to get steady shots in very dynamic driving situations.
With our quick change system we had also been able to provide the production with smooth and steady handheld shots.
For AUDI´s german and also international commercials of the new A4 models, the A4 limousine and the A4 Avant, Camera Drone Services was responsible for all aerial shoots. The production took place on an airfield north of Barcelona (ES) an was pretty special concerning flying conditions. We had to fly between two moving cars, one we sat on and the all new AUDI A4 we had to film with our drone system. With our independent power management and charging solutions we had been able to produce the whole day right on the production truck whilst flying the drone from the same one. With our flying experience and our high performance drones we had been able to capture all driving maneuvers and high speed flights on heights you would usually need a “russian arm” for.
