For Volkswagen we went on a road trip with the first Stop on Malta.
Malta is one of the Spots in Europe you could even shot a commercial in the wintertime with a lot of sun and comfortable temperatures.
With different cars in different countries all over Europe we have to create severals high-resolution pictures and short clips which can be used for social media advertisement. The goal of the clips is to be just in one camera move from pretty low heights to pretty high heights or opposite direction. For that special requirements you need a well trained team and a drone system that it was well adjusted.
Especially in conditions on a coastline with higher wind speeds and several obstructed flight paths, the pilot and the drone-systems have to be top notch and very responsive.
For the Chinese Feature Film production `Nicola Code` we had been able to deliver high end footage within high end locations, like the. Potsdamer Platz by night, the Siegessäule/Straße des 17. Juni and the Teufelsberg. Due to our great network we had been able to provide the production with the full service of getting the permissions to fly in this special areas in the shortest time possible.
The stunning content, shot on Arri Alex Mini, will be shown all across China in 2018.
With the high end, long range 1080p latency free video transmission we could serve the video village with a stable transmission even in long range flights as well as whilst flying in obstructed areas.
The whole setup delivered a rock solid performance prepared even for the cold weather conditions of late November.
Very special development and consulting for the Netflix Series Sense 8 with Lana Wachowski as Director and John Toll as DOP.
The clients request was to find a solution for flying a drone in a Setup that allows also two helicopters being involved and flying between the drone and the POI/Set. To fulfill all security requirements on international standards, we had to go on a specified security distance towards those helicopter but still have to be pretty close in the framing of the actors and the whole action sequence.
We developed on our CDS Drones – stabilizing systems as well as on our video transmission and came up with a rocksolid solution of flying a RED 8K camera with a 120mm lens incl. full FIZ control and a 1080p zero delay, video transmitting long-range solution which was tested on the ground with a range of 3km (unobstructed) and also worked fine in a range of around 600m through trees and and other obstructions. Even with the 120mm lens we had been able to deliver a fully stabilized picture.
The Berlin based Production Company It´s us Media used our drone competences for their commercial production for BMWI (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie).
For this production our drone systems had been used for the drone establishing shots as well as a replacement for a crane. With this the production was able to save money besides having the flexibility of shooting different angles from very close positions to very far establishing shots within one shot.
Another special with this production was, that we had been able to fly in a night setup with light rain which worked perfect with our reliable systems and offers the production great shots with watered streets and roofs they usually would have needed an artificial wet-down for.
The Warner Bros., Barefootfilms and Producers at Work – Production Conni&Co. 2, directed by Til Schweiger, is the follow up of the Feature Film “Conni&Co.” that just started in cinemas with his daughter Emma Schweiger in the main cast.
Luckyly we had been able to show what´s possible with a professional drone system and an experienced team. So after we shot the pretty common establishing shoots as well as the VFX shoots we had been the third, the flying camera, on set for all other shots as well.
We did all that with our drones, what you would usually need a crane or a dolly for.
Most of the time we had to fly over water whilst chasing boats or pretending like a boat with a big crane rigged on it.
The starting and landing spots had also been on a shaky boat or on a raft.
Thanks to our reliable CDS-Dronesystems and our experienced team, we got more great content produced than originally requested which will also be used in the final movie.
History Channel is well known for their big international documentaries from all over the world.
In Berlin we had a very special shooting for their documentary “Hunting Hitler“. On the location at the Brandenburg Gate, Street of 17th of June and the victory column we had to shoot the aerials for that special documentary about the last days of the WWII with our big drone systems.
With our reliable and redundant CDS – Dronesystems and our reputation we had been able to get the permission for the highly restricted flight zone close to the Reichstag and created the pictures the production needed and beyond.
For the Berlin-Brandburg Film Commission and the Medienboard in cooperation with Studio Babelsberg and X-Filme, CDS – Camera Drone Services had been invited to do a workshop with the main Berlins and Brandenburgs Authorities and Politics concerning Drones-, Technics, flying skills, permissions and possible future scenarios concerning flying licenses and the permission process.
The workshop took place in the brand new Studio Babelsberg set “Neue Berliner Straße”.
Watch the video, produced by the Medienboard, to get a short Impression of the Event.
For the final match of the German Football League CDS was the flying live camera for the TV/Online stream of the league. With our latency free 1080p video downlink we had been able to provide the video walls in the stadium as well as the tv/online feed with live pictures from our drone systems. The commentators of the show had been able to comment on strategies the teams used and explain it to the audience from perspectives the never had before. The finals took place in the Poststadium of Berlin, which is located in the highly restricted flying zone of 1NM (nautical mile) around the Reichstag and the governmental district. Because of our reliable, redundant systems as well as of our big experience besides our good contacts to the german authorities, CDS – Camera Drone Services, made it happen to fly in and above a stadium inside this highly restricted zone.
For the international BBC documentary “sculpture park” about an art gallery and park in Mecklenburg Vorpommern. Their owners and artists had been followed all over the world in this very special documentary. CDS – Camera Drone Services was responsible for the aerial shots to cover the beautiful landscape with all its lakes and forests that surround the art-park. Additionally the CDS equipment was used for steady shots to cover a walk through the park, to show the art installed along the way through the park towards the main gallery entrance.
Cinecentrum Berlin, the production company of the very famous german tv-series SOKO Wismar booked CDS – Camera Drone Services for their very special and also dangerous shots with having the the main set in a flying balloon whilst filming the scenes with a drone. Another specialty with those shots had been the different locations and camera angles we had to film. We had to move from one spot to another within a short period of time, set up the drone, get in position and shoot the sequences the production needed for their final episode.
Thanks to our optimized workflow and the very mobile setting we had been able to provide the production with more shots and angles than originally planned and so we could provide them with more options for their final composition.
