For Volkswagen we went on a road trip with the first Stop on Malta.
Malta is one of the Spots in Europe you could even shot a commercial in the wintertime with a lot of sun and comfortable temperatures.
With different cars in different countries all over Europe we have to create severals high-resolution pictures and short clips which can be used for social media advertisement. The goal of the clips is to be just in one camera move from pretty low heights to pretty high heights or opposite direction. For that special requirements you need a well trained team and a drone system that it was well adjusted.
Especially in conditions on a coastline with higher wind speeds and several obstructed flight paths, the pilot and the drone-systems have to be top notch and very responsive.
For the Chinese Feature Film production `Nicola Code` we had been able to deliver high end footage within high end locations, like the. Potsdamer Platz by night, the Siegessäule/Straße des 17. Juni and the Teufelsberg. Due to our great network we had been able to provide the production with the full service of getting the permissions to fly in this special areas in the shortest time possible.
The stunning content, shot on Arri Alex Mini, will be shown all across China in 2018.
With the high end, long range 1080p latency free video transmission we could serve the video village with a stable transmission even in long range flights as well as whilst flying in obstructed areas.

The clients request was to find a solution for flying a drone in a Setup that allows also two helicopters being involved and flying between the drone and the POI/Set. To fulfill all security requirements on international standards, we had to go on a specified security distance towards those helicopter but still have to be pretty close in the framing of the actors and the whole action sequence.
We developed on our CDS Drones – stabilizing systems as well as on our video transmission and came up with a rocksolid solution of flying a RED 8K camera with a 120mm lens incl. full FIZ control and a 1080p zero delay, video transmitting long-range solution which was tested on the ground with a range of 3km (unobstructed) and also worked fine in a range of around 600m through trees and and other obstructions. Even with the 120mm lens we had been able to deliver a fully stabilized picture.
With our special CDS VR/360°- Drone Systems we had been responsible for the new VR/360° Flight over Malta commercial for GiG (Gaming Innovation Group). Due to our reliable Systems, the precise flight plannings and the accurate risk management planning, we had even been able to fly in sensitive areas with permission by the Maltese aerial authorities.
We had been able to cover the Maltese harbour, as well as Valetta City with it`s fortifications, Manoel Island and St. Julians bay area alongside with the inner countryside in the beautiful city of Msida.
Even in the high wind speed situations on the coastline with wind gusts over 60km/h we had been able to deliver rocksolid footage and fulfill the requirements of our client.
Due to the long range, latency free video transmission we had been able to perform long range flights on the coastline whilst having a full overview about the covered scenarios.
The newest Sky Commercial for the upcoming soccer season features one of the famous football stadiums in Berlin. We had been responsible to deliver high-end 8K content to Sky for the opening sequence of their newest TVC. Besides that we delivered some key shots with our handheld system. Due to the quick release system we use, we had been able to avoid long setup changes and just grab the setup we used in the drone to use it handheld immidiatly. Time was very important in this case due to the fact that all pictures should have been shot while the match was going on in the magic hour of the late afternoon.
Due to the planned digital add ons in the post production it was very important that the content was very smooth and stable. We had been able to match these requirements with our precisely balanced and finetuned stabilizing system.
For this special Siemens 360° corporate-commercial, produced by Embassy of Dreams, we had again been able to proof the efficiency of our high performance drones with the fully stabilized 360°-System attached. With the CDS Drones 360°-Drone-System we are able to create a fully 360° field of view which offers the ability to the post production to get rid of the drone in the video content and to create a whole new immersive viewing experience to the viewer. With the newest Claas-Tractor on the market, equipped with high end Siemens-technology plowing a field super precisely we had the chance to collect some stunning 360° content whilst orbiting and chasing the tractor in action.

For the double race of FIA FormulaE in Berlin, FIA used the most advanced CDS Drones Live Broadcast Setup to produce high-end live content for their international TV Live-Streams.
The CDS Broadcast drones are capable of flying high speeds (over 100kph) whilst having a flight time of more than 15min. With our battery quick change system the drone pit-stop takes less than 90Sec..
With this very special setup we have Broadcast video link on board which is able to sent directly to the SNG/Broadcaster in a bandwith of 2, 3 or 7GHz in 1080p 25 or 1080i 50. With the telemetry module included the broadcaster is able to change the camera settings like Iris, focus, colors, etc. instantly from the directors place, SNG or wherever they wanna have things set up, via remote control.
Besides the Broadcast RF-Modul and the remote controllable camera CDS Drones uses a parallel latency free video link onboard besides a live recording module in the drone and in our DroneShuttle ground station. With this the client has a multiple redundancy in our CDS Drone system itself besides having his own rock solid connection to the camera for the live stream.
For the documentary 100. Jahre UFA, produced by SWR we had been able to produce the important aerials at Studio Babelsberg where the well know production company UFA has its roots.
The Director Dr. Sigrid Faltin used the drone as a multifunctional tool to create long tracking shots which start at low heights which usually had been shot with a steady cam over mid-heights and camera movements a crane would usually had been used for up to 100m aerials.
With this flexibel CDS Drones – Setup we had been able to fulfill all production requirements and beyond.
The second season of the US tv series Berlin Station produced by Paramount Pictures, Studio Babelsberg and Michael Scheel took advantage of the versatilely of CDS Drones and its operators. For very special roof top chasing scenes filmed on Arri Mini, we had to fly in courtyards and street canyons besides crossing different roof height and stories of the bulding the chases took place on.
Despite having wind gusts up to 62kph on and over the roof tops we had been able to deliver steady pictures anyway.
Thanks to our quick releases, foldable systems and our easy to transport systems we had been able to cover all different locations in a very short time and give the production more time they could use for other shots they could do additionally to the planned ones.
Thanks to the wonderful team of Berlin Station which helped carrying things around and taking care of our stuff we also had a great experience concerning the understanding of necessary safety rules especially in these harsh weather conditions and special spots we had to start, land and fly through in the inner city of Berlin.
For this very special Production with Parasol Island and Jung von Matt for Edeka, CDS Drones had to start and land on a small fisher boat in very windy conditions besides changing wave heights.
The production shot on Arri Mini and the RED Weapon W 8K Helium, for the drone, requires very precise flight maneuvers for moving pictures of the moving boat and the fisherman working on it whilst having flybys with keeping the fisherman in the focus.
With every flight the boat was moving forward besides moving in the waves and wind and we had to appraise the movements, wind, waves and the crossings of the moving boat and the flying drone to get the pictures needed and beyond.
Starting and landing was like having a ball dancing on hose water.
Very challenging and fun too with a satisfied client and a great team experience.
